Our Beliefs

Reflecting on our beliefs is important because it helps us grow in understanding, strengthen our faith, and live with greater purpose and integrity. When we take time to reflect on what we believe and why, we deepen our relationship with God and become more grounded in truth. It allows us to identify and correct misunderstandings, align our lives with scripture, and be better prepared to share our faith with others. In a world full of differing opinions and shifting values, regularly examining our beliefs helps us remain rooted in Christ and discern what is true and meaningful. It also encourages humility, as we recognize that spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. Ultimately, examining our beliefs equips us to live more intentionally and faithfully in every area of life.

St. David's  is a Protestant church, a part of the United Church of Canada denomination. The United Church was formed in 1925 from Methodist, Congregational, The General Council of Local Union Churches,  and a portion of the Presbyterian Church. St. David's follows the beliefs and ministries of The United Church of Canada in Pacific Mountain Regional Council of the UCC including the well loved New Creed (1968):

We are not alone,
    we live in God’s world.

 We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
    who has come in Jesus,
       the Word made flesh,
       to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
       by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
    to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
    to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
       our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,
    God is with us.
We are not alone.

    Thanks be to God.
