“Worship and living are not two separate realms. Unless living is a form of worship, our worship has no life.” Abraham Heschel
Format
Our service begins at 10:00 on Sunday morning. Children are with adults for the beginning of worship, then after a special time with the minister, children and infants are invited to go to Sunday school and the nursery.
Our services usually last about an hour, with refreshments and time for conversation after the service. We hope you can join us for a time of reflection, inspiration and friendship.
Our Approach
At the centre of the life of this community is the practice of worship, within the church and beyond its walls. To worship is to see and revere the holiness in the ordinary things of life, to recognize the sacred in the everyday. When we gather on Sunday mornings we are attempting to use words, music and silence to acknowledge the divine reality - God’s goodness and God’s presence in our lives and in our world.
Because this practice is centuries old, the church has developed language and rituals, learned hymns and habits that are filled with meaning and mystery to some of us and are unfamiliar and meaningless to others. You are welcome to ask questions about what we do and why we do it. At St. David’s we have held on to some traditions and let go of others. What we do is less important than why we do it: to acknowledge that everywhere is holy ground and to find some way of expressing gratitude for that fact.
