Child labour on cocoa farms
Friday, February 22nd, 2008Children of West Africa toil on cocoa farms under conditions the United Nations International Labour Organisation classifies as the worst forms of child labour, entailing enslavement, hazardous working conditions, little pay and little or no time for education. Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008St. David’s is committed to being involved in hands-on work that makes a concrete difference in the lives of the most impoverished communities in our city. In response to pressing needs in Vancouver’s poorest neighbourhood, several United Churches in Vancouver have participated in a programme where homeless people are fed beautifully prepared food and attentively served at sit-down dinners at First United Church, located at the corner of Gore and Hastings.
